We've been asked, "Why aren't your estimates free?".
FairRepair.com charges a minimal fee because our accurate estimates are based on licensed Parts & Labor data from MOTOR Information Systems. A FairRepair.com estimate will not show you a wide range of prices nor a low, average, high pricing structure for the cost of your repair.
| A FairRepair.com estimate will display: |
| 1. |
The EXACT labor time it takes to complete a repair. |
| 2. |
Any additional Labor Time Operations such as (Diagnosis, Charging/Testing, Inspection, Alignment, Bleed, Calibrate, Flush, Relearning, and Reprogramming) |
| 3. |
Any additional relevant information or notes for the mechanic. |
| 4. |
The OEM Part Number and current market PRICE. |
| 5. |
The average labor rate in your zip code using our exclusive database of 55,000 Repair Shops. |
| 6. |
The typical cost of Repair Shops Shop Supplies/Charges. |
| 7. |
Repair Shops who will meet or beat our estimate. |
We've also been asked "Where do your Labor Rates and Part Prices come from?"
We are proud partners with MOTOR Information Systems, the sole company in the automotive industry servicing both the mechanical and collision repair markets. The MOTOR mechanical "OE Parts and Labor Database" is used exclusively by nearly every automobile dealership in existence, including Reynolds and Reynolds, as well as ADP, two firms that together hold over 80% market share in the dealer management systems market. Having MOTOR as a partner gives you the piece of mind that when you take your vehicle to a Repair Shop more often than not they'll be using the same data to generate an estimate for you.
We've also been asked "Why is a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) necessary?".
In order to accurately generate an estimate our system needs to know your exact vehicle. The only way to guarantee that is to decode your VIN. While locating your VIN may take a few extra minutes of your time the alternative is to ask several questions about your vehicle such as year, make, model, engine size and drive type. Most people know their vehicle's year, make and model however engine size and drive type are not always known and can be complicated so we opt-ed to keep it simple for you. Once you've given us your VIN, well store it for future use and not share it with any 3rd parties while at the same time protecting your personal information.
